Around the world… with TAJIMA.
How Tajima's World Focus Impacts Embroiderers Everywhere… From the Factory to the Small Storefront.

O
ver the last sixty days, Tajima had the opportunity to participate in several large-scale exhibitions around the world. And while this news dose not impact North American embroiderers right now, it will as time passes. Tajima has led the world marketplace in developing technologies that eventually allows every embroider more capabilities to drive increased revenue and profits. And many of these technologies emanate from our Asian markets, as it is closer to our Research and Development Center TTC in Japan. So, similar to fashions hitting the runway of Milan or Paris, and showing up in American stores the following season, for much less, please allow us to tell you about the exciting news coming out of the Asian markets in particular this year.

Textile Asia 2007 – Pakistan
Held in Pakistan, Tajima introduced the first Tajima 50-head machine, the TFGN-650 (1,500 x 162.4)2WE. This amazing piece of sophisticated equipment tops Tajima's last “biggest” machine, theTFGN-630 with over 20 additional heads all sewing 6 colors.
TFGN-650 (1,500 x 162.4)2WE
As will other machines in the TFGN family, the TFGN-650 targets mainly home textile products like quilts, sheets, window coverings, wall coverings, etc. it’s like Schiffli machine in that it is a high volume machine. However, it is unlike Schiffli machine in that is not expensive and dose not require massive capital expenditures in plant and equipment to develop the capability. In fact, the TFGN650 can be installed in a relatively small space with ease, something that is virtually impossible with the Schiffli machine. But probably the most critical comparison is that the TFGN-650’s 162.4mm (6.4”) embroidery space is 6 times larger than the head interval of a Schiffli machine, an important factor for garments like lace embroidery designs, which can now be sewn without compromising existing lace embroidery designs. An interesting aspect with the TFGN-650 is the considerable attention it received from Pakistan customers who were interested in the embroidery quality, high speed operation and multicolor possibilities because the marketplace tends to appreciate higher value added products. A prime example of this application is the Pakistan women’s national dress, called an SKD which is an abbreviation for the components of the outfit: S: Shalwar (long pants) K:Kameez (jacket) D:Dupatta (scarf, shawl). So in addition to the Home Textile Market, it seems that there is a very large need in some apparel markets in Asia for the TFGN-650 thanks to its expanded capabilities compared to Schiffli.

Additional functionality of the TFGN-650 includes Tajima's thread breakage detector that stops embroidery at spots where thread breakage typically takes place in order to keep production moving. The “2WE” on the tail end of the machine name refers to the frame driving specification that allows one embroidery head to operate in a triple size embroidery space for broader applications. The “Head Selection” function controls the embroidery heads to allow the ultimate flexibility and expansion of your designs to allow variations based on multiple embroidery spaces and multicolor settings.

Plus, as with all machines in the Tajima family, a wealth of opinion is available to increase added value to an embroidery business like the High-Speed Sequin Device, the Boring Device, and to improve production and working efficiency our exclusive Automatic Lubrication System.
What is critical to American embroiderers are the new internal technologies that drive embroidery in this large machine with superior speed, efficiency and quality of sewing. It’s clear that once again Tajima scores big with 6 color, 50 head workhorse and those attending Textile Asia 2007 were very excited to see this machine in action.
AAMA-TEX 2007 – Singapore
Tajima was also a large exhibitor at the AAMA-TEX 2007 that ran for 4 days from March 20-23, 2007 in Singapore. This was the 7th time that this show, which concentrates on specialized equipment for the garment, textile and leather industries was held, and it was very popular indeed, drawing exhibitors and attendees from 22 countries including Chine, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The two models exhibited were the TFGN-650 described above and the TFSN-912 (680 x 360)S.

In addition to the natural attraction that the massive TFGN-650 caused similar to Textile Asia, considerable interest was also shown in Singapore with the TFSN-912 (680 x 360)S, one of the first models assembled in the new state-of-the-art Tajima Shanghai factory.

The exhibit booth was filled with customer interested in seeing for themselves how the TFSN-912 was made with the same attention to quality and detail as machines assembled in Japan. Many of the visitors said that it was clear that there was absolutely no difference, and that the equivalent-to-Japanese production control system and quality standards made them very comfortable with the low cost/high return value they would receive with a Shanghai-made Tajima machine.
Embroidery samples displayed as AAMA Singapore
To illustrate the capabilities of the Tajima equipment, about 40 embroidered samples were displayed, mainly rolled fabrics. Many visitors were interested in the unique embroidery techniques used and discussed them in detail with the sales staff.
